EARLIER THIS AFTERNOON, it was announced that legendary entertainer Cilla Black had died aged 72.
Since then, tributes have been pouring in for the late presenter, from fans and celebrities alike.
Among those who paid tribute was Piers Morgan, who called her a “lovely lady” and a “trailblazer,” and even appeared on Sky News to discuss her passing.

It wasn’t long, however, until the internet dug up a 2007 Daily Mail article written by Piers Morgan in which he called Cilla Black “obnoxious”.

In the article in question, Morgan recounts being out for dinner with the team from Britain’s Got Talent, including Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, and Ant and Dec.
During the dinner, Morgan states that the guests started “compiling a list of the world’s other most obnoxious celebrities, from personal bitter experience.”
New names, though I can’t possibly say who suggested them, included Cilla Black – “so grand she doesn’t even like sharing her car with her chauffeur” – and Christina Aguilera – “jumped-up little madam”.
Needless to say, people were not shy about calling him out on it.

Morgan has since addressed the criticisms and claimed that he was merely quoting someone else in the piece.
He has also continued to pay tribute to Black, posting a video of Cilla Black performing Anyone Who Had A Heart.
